LUCRF Super supports announcement of nominees for the PFA Footballers of the Year and PFA Harry Kewell Medal
LUCRF Super, in partnership with Professional Footballers Australia (PFA), supported the launch of the 2011 PFA male and female Footballers of the Year Awards and the PFA Harry Kewell Medal on Tuesday 27th of September.
Nominees for the Award categories were announced by some of Australia’s most prominent footballers including Simon Colosimo, Melissa Barbieri, Adrian Leijer and international superstar Harry Kewell.
The PFA Harry Kewell medal – named after Harry for his phenomenal achievements as a young professional in the English Premier League - recognises the talent of young Australian players, both at home and abroad, who play in some of the world’s best football leagues.
When asked at the launch about the significance of these awards and what they mean to players, Kewell said “this is the highest achievement for a footballer as your work is voted for and appreciated by your peers. You can’t get any higher than this.”

The Awards come from a list of eligible nominees that are selected throughout the year by the PFA Awards Committee. All Australian players are then asked to vote to determine the players’ choice as Australia’s best. The players who demonstrate outstanding performance for their club, their country or both, are then awarded the Medal at the Australian Football Awards Ceremony.
Update: As the superannuation Fund of Choice for the PFA, LUCRF Super congratulates Robbie Kruse, winner of the 2011 Harry Kewell Medal, Matt McKay, recipient of the PFA Footballer of the Year Award and Elise Kellond-Knight who took out the PFA Women's Footballer of the Year Award, at the Australian Football Awards held in Sydney on 4 October. Well done guys!
