Partnering Professional Footballers Association
LUCRF Super is pleased to have formed a partnership with the Australian Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).
Established in 1993, the PFA was created to support players, improve their employment conditions and drive the development of the game in Australia. Whilst this commitment remains, the PFA also assists their members develop as people by providing them with programs that improve their ‘off field’ skills and support the unique lifestyle needs demanded by a career in professional sport.
PFA members are Socceroos, A-League footballers, Matildas (national female squad), and members of Australia’s elite football academies, including players in the Australian Institute of Sport’s football program.
This new partnership means that LUCRF Super will become the PFA’s partner for member superannuation needs. The Fund will provide superannuation education to Australian footballers through the PFA’s My Football Career program and will support the PFA’s activities and community initiatives.
LUCRF Super CEO Greg Sword said he welcomed the partnership with the PFA.
“LUCRF has over 30 years of experience in assisting Australians with their superannuation needs. We’re looking forward to providing this support to Australia’s elite footballers and also our involvement with the PFA’s upcoming community initiatives,” he said.
“This relationship is a fantastic way for both organisations to make a positive contribution to the lives of Australians”.
PFA Chief Executive Brendan Schwab was delighted with the partnership.
“PFA members need to make well informed decisions in relation to their superannuation. The precarious nature of a professional football career path complicates a footballer’s superannuation strategy which in turn can reduce the earning capacity of their superannuation funds”, he said.
“PFA members often have many different employers throughout their careers, regularly leave Australia to pursue their career overseas or may be a foreigner that is earning superannuation for the first time in their life,” Schwab continued.
“LUCRF Super can assist our members with the complex choices these circumstances place on their superannuation and ensure that they are well positioned to maximise their superannuation funds throughout their working life.”
