Melbourne Heart player and LUCRF Super memberLearn all about Clint from our Q&A interview below.
I started playing with friends at 8 years old. My passion took hold when I went to the AIS (16 years old) in Canberra and realised I could pursue a professional career.
I have been fortunate to win four championships at National League level in Australia. Each one was special in it’s own right. Also receiving four caps for my country has been a highlight.
My favourite player as I was growing up was the Dutch player, Marco Van Basten, followed closely by Maradonna. Both players were naturally gifted but also technically proficient. The most naturally gifted player I have played with was Mark Viduka.
Enjoyment is the main focus, but for those who want to pursue a career in football, how hard you work at training is key. Improving your weaknesses, listening to your coaches and being professional and disciplined on and off the park is important.
This sport has provided me with a professional career, which I’ve found challenging at times but ultimately rewarding. Football is the world game! This has given me an insight into people from different cultures, religions and backgrounds. It has also shaped me as a person and has helped me mature as a leader and also as a team player.
Away from football I enjoy spending time doing relaxing activities. Yoga, fishing, watching movies and socialising with friends and family take up my time.
Besides Australia I enjoyed my time in Rio, Brazil. The atmosphere there was very relaxing, but it is always good to come home.
I love hard rock and metal. Metallica was the first and still the best.
Since I heard about LUCRF through their association with the PFA (Professional Footballers Australia), I didn’t hesitate in signing with them. They have been professional and very helpful in organising my super into one fund and I’m happy with the returns that I am receiving.
